Summer water

Summer water is a seasonal service in areas that do not have a municipal water supply network. Summer water is only intended for washing dishes and bathing, not for drinking. The summer water service will be discontinued due to the expansion of municipal engineering, and we will not accept any new summer water customers.

The summer water service is available from spring to autumn. The distribution of summer water begins when night-time frosts have stopped and the ice on the above-ground pipes has melted. The summer water service is opened automatically for customers who have ordered it, which means that customers do not need to contact HSY separately about opening it. Summer water is closed in the autumn depending on the weather, mainly during September-October. Customers will not be notified separately about the opening and closing.

There is no water meter for summer water, which means that only a fixed opening and closing fee is charged for its use, the amount of which is confirmed annually as part of the price list for water services.

Do not drink summer water

A summer water contract does not correspond to a normal water connection: water must not be conducted into the building, as the summer water network is intended for lighter use and does not correspond to a normal water connection in terms of pressure and structure. Summer water must not be connected to a washing machine or a shower, for example, and it is also not sufficient for irrigation due to its limited capacity.

The quality of summer water is not monitored in the same way as supply water, and it may not meet the quality requirements for drinking water. Summer water pipes often run close to the ground, which leads to a rise in the water temperature, for example. This means that the water is suitable for bathing and washing dishes, but it is not recommended for drinking.
