What types of waste can you bring to the Sortti Stations?
The types of waste accepted vary between Sortti Stations. You can find a detailed list on each station’s individual page. You can also check the Waste guide to see whether the Sortti Stations accept your type of waste. This page also provides specific instructions related to business and organizational waste.

Waste guide,
Please note that trucks and vehicle combinations exceeding 2 meters in width or 10 meters in length are not permitted at the Sortti Stations. Truckloads are accepted at the Ämmässuo Eco-industrial Centre. Please see our website for detailed instructions and opening hours:
Hazardous waste from companies and organizations
We accept hazardous waste from companies and organizations (including housing companies) only at the Kivikko Hazardous waste station. We charge a fee for this waste according to the price list. A Waste Transportation Document must also be completed for hazardous waste from companies. You can find the hazardous waste transportation document on the Kivikko Hazardous Waste Station’s webpage.
Waste transfer document
We require companies to provide a transfer document at Sortti Stations for pressure-treated wood, asbestos, and POP waste. We accept pressure-treated wood at all Sortti Stations, and asbestos waste only at the Ämmässuo Sortti Station. The transfer document may be either electronic or in paper format.
Electrical and electronic waste
You can bring small quantities of household electrical and electronic devices to the Sortti Stations. If you are bringing a large amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) or if the devices are large in size, the load must be taken to a collection point designated by the WEEE producer organization for businesses. Reception at these points is free of charge.
Remember these things when visiting the Sortti Stations
- Reserve enough time for your visit to the Sortti Station and wear clothes suitable for unloading your waste yourself.
- Pay special attention to safety at the Sortti Stations. Follow the speed limit (10 km/h), and watch out for other customers.
- Wear protective clothing. Work gloves protect your hands from sharp waste, and closed shoes are a safer choice than sandals, as there may be nails or other sharp objects on the ground. Even though we clean the area regularly, caution is still important.
- Protect your hearing, as throwing waste and working machinery may cause loud noise. Free earplugs are available at the Sortti Station service point.
- Please note that even empty aerosol cans are classified as hazardous waste at the Sortti Stations. Asbestos is only accepted at the Ämmässuo Sortti Station. Asbestos may be found in old construction materials, such as fibre cement boards and roof coverings.
- Follow the sorting instructions and ask the staff for help if needed. Do not take any waste or items from the Kierrätyskeskus's donation point.
