The limit value for thoracic particles will be tightened
The current daily limit value for thoracic particles (50 µg/m³, 35 exceedances allowed per year) will be 45 µg/m³ from 2030 onwards. At that time, exceedances of the limit value – meaning dusty days – will only be allowed 18 times per year per monitoring station. The new limit must be achieved by 2030. Concentrations will be compared to the new limit value already during 2026–2029. If it is found that this new limit value is exceeded, the municipality will be required to prepare an action plan showing how the limit will be met no later than 2030. In the WHO air quality recommendations, the daily guideline level for respirable particles is 45 μg/m³ and 3 exceedances per year are allowed.
The table below lists the number of days (pcs) exceeding 50 µg/m³ and 45 µg/m³ per station during the current year.
