‘Kuivaa asiaa’ project

The aim of the ‘Kuivaa asiaa’ project was to reduce the particle emissions from wood burning and thereby improve the air quality in detached housing areas. The project involved developing firewood services that better meet the needs of firewood users and improve the efficiency of wood use. The new services will simplify the journey of firewood from producers to residents, facilitate the use of wood energy, support chimney sweepers and other entrepreneurs in the advisory sector, and reduce the environmental and health impacts of wood use.

The project provided residents with tips for proper firewood storage and burning. When wood is burned efficiently and as cleanly as possible, the particle emissions from wood burning are reduced. Communication took place in workshops and at residents’ evenings organised for residents. Information on project events and tips on wood burning are available at www.poltapuhtaasti.fi.

‘Kuivaa asiaa’ was a joint project of TTS Työtehoseura, HSY and the City of Turku, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project started in August 2018 and ended 31.3.2021. The project was coordinated by TTS.
