Piloting new models for recycling and waste separation

The project activities include analysing existing solid waste management systems and legislation as well as piloting new models and technologies for recycling and waste separation.

HSY will carry out two pilots during the project. Waste management unit will study new methods for the use of waste incineration slag. Slag mineral fraction will be used to create building blocks for Ämmässuo eco-industrial centre.

A communications pilot will study the possibilities to visualise information on material recycling in residential buildings' own platforms, like staircases or information applications. The aim of the trial is to motivate the residents to sort their waste more actively.
