Exceptions to the emptying of waste containers and the opening hours of Sortti Stations on May Day and Ascension Day 2025

Due to the public holiday, the emptying of waste containers during the May Day week may take place one day earlier or later. Waste containers will not be emptied on May Day, 1 May.

Our Sortti Stations will be open on May Eve, 30 April from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and our Sortti Mini Station will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Sortti Stations and the Sortti Mini Station will be closed on May Day.

We will empty waste containers as usual on Ascension Day, 29 May. However, it is possible that the emptying of waste containers on Thursday and Friday will take place one day later due to the public holiday.

Especially in the city centre of Helsinki, there are properties that cannot be accessed on weekends or public holidays. We hope that the caretakers of these properties will make sure that the gates of the property will be open on Ascension Day, 29 May, in the same way as on normal weekdays.

Sortti Stations will be closed on Ascension Day, but the Koivukylä Sortti Mini Station will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can bring small household waste loads to the Sortti Mini Station. Please note that the station does not accept garden or construction waste.

Our customer service will serve as usual on May Eve from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Customer service will be closed on May Day and Ascension Day. You can find more information on the opening hours at hsy.fi/en/hsy/customer-service.
