In many packages, the amount of plastic has been reduced and carton has been used alongside plastic to provide support for the package as, for example, a sleeve or case on the outside of the package. The materials are often quite easy to separate from each other and sort into their own containers. The packages may have a tear-off point marked on them from which the carton cover can be torn and removed from the plastic part. Separate the materials from each other and sort the plastic part as plastic packaging, the carton part as carton packaging and the metal lid as small metal items.

If the packaging materials cannot be separated or if you cannot determine the main material of the packaging, sort it as mixed waste.
