Possible delays in emptying waste containers

News releases 18.01.2022, 16:35

So far, despite the coronavirus pandemic, we have managed to empty the waste containers mainly on schedule. Our five Sortti Stations have also remained open at their normal opening hours. There may be delays in waste management and emptying of containers in the near future due to increasing absences, weather challenges and equipment breakdowns. We hope that residents will take into account the possible delays in their waste sorting.

As the coronavirus epidemic worsens, the absences due to illness and quarantines of our personnel may suddenly affect the functionality of waste management. Weather conditions and equipment breakdowns also cause us occasional challenges. In this case, there may be delays or other schedule changes in the emptying of waste containers in some areas or for certain types of waste.

Unfortunately, the emptying schedules for glass and metal waste containers in particular have been delayed in recent days for the reasons mentioned above.

We will notify you of any schedule changes in our website news or on our social media channels as soon as possible. We hope that the residents understand the situation and we want to thank everyone for their cooperation!

How to avoid filling your waste containers?

If the waste containers on your property are becoming too full, we would recommend that you keep your plastic packaging, glass, metal and cardboard waste in your home until the full waste containers have been emptied.

During this exceptional period of time, the importance of waste sorting is emphasized more than ever. The priority, of course, is always to prevent waste, which can be achieved by:

  • recycling
  • cutting back on unnecessary shopping
  • stopping the use of disposable products.

However, because waste is still being generated, it is important that it is sorted correctly. We can save our natural resources and the environment by recycling materials from different types of waste. Correct sorting also prevents mixed waste containers from filling up too quickly. Especially plastic and cardboard packaging take up a lot of space in a mixed waste container.

Possible exceptional opening hours for Sortti Stations

This exceptional situation may also affect the opening hours of our Sortti Stations and Sortti Mini Station in the near future. Please check the status and opening hours of the stations on our website before you visit them.  When visiting our Sortti Stations, it is important to keep in mind the recommended safety distances, to use a face mask if necessary and to take good care of your hand hygiene.
