Room for improvement...
There is room for improvement for the storage of firewood in the capital city region. Only a third of detached houses have woodsheds, and most households keep firewood under a tarpaulin or under the eave, in wood piles or closed sheds that are too tightly closed. The design competition is part of the Urban Woodshed project (Urbaani puuvaja). The Urban Woodshed project is developing new storage and service solutions to improve the drying of firewood for homes. The project is realized by the Work Efficiency Institute TTS, Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY ja Aalto University.
