We measure the air quality in Vartiokylä, on Huivipolku. The results of the station describe the air quality on a single-family housing area in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
At this monitoring station we measure, among others, the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, fine particles, and ozone as well as that of the carcinogenic PAH compounds.
The results are presented through an air quality index that correlates the concentrations to their health effects. The index varies from good to very poor. When the air quality is poor (red colour), people sensitive to air pollutants may show some symptoms. The graph shows the air quality indexes from the last 12 hours (unverified hourly values).
