The air quality monitoring station in Lohja is situated in Nahkurintori. There are no significant emission sources in its immediate vicinity, which means that its results represent the general air quality in Lohja. The concentrations may be higher near busy streets.
The monitoring station was also located in Nahkurintori during 2005 and 2006, and now it has been in its current place since 2009.
In Lohja we measure, among others, the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and particles of different sizes. The results are presented through an air quality index that correlates the concentrations to their health effects. The index varies from good to very poor. When the air quality is poor (red colour), people sensitive to air pollutants may show some symptoms.
The graph shows the air quality indexes from the last 12 hours.
