The water bill consists of a basic charge and a usage charge based on water consumption.
The connection charge and connection work fee are charged when a new building is connected to the water management network or when old water service pipes are renewed.
In addition, a separate service price list will be applied to work ordered from HSY Water Services. The service price list is common to the entire HSY region.
HSY’s water rates were harmonised in 2013
The Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority harmonised its water rates at the beginning of 2013. All HSY cities have the same water usage and basic rates as of 1 January 2013. The basic rates increased in all HSY cities. The usage rates decreased in Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa and increased in Helsinki.
The usage and basic rates increased on average by a total of 3.3%. In addition, water service connection fees increased as per the excavation cost index by 4.7%.
In 2010, HSY’s Board of Directors made the decision to harmonise water rates in HSY’s operational area by 2013 so that the usage charge and basic charge unit prices in all HSY cities will be the same at the beginning of 2013.
HSY’s Board of Directors decided on the rates for 2013 on 19 October 2012. The change in water rates is based on Section 23 of the Act on Water Services and Section 4.2 of HSY Water Services’ general terms of delivery.
