We organise guided tours of the Viikinmäki wastewater treatment plant and Vanhakaupunki water treatment plant. You may book a visit via the links on the left.
The Viikinmäki wastewater treatment plant welcomes various groups of visitors (e.g., educational institutions, associations, organisations, companies). At Viikinmäki, we also organise student visits for upper comprehensive school grades 7 and up and students in secondary education. For safety reasons, we cannot arrange visits at the plant for schoolchildren younger than 7th graders.
At the Vanhakaupunki water treatment plant, we organise tours for water management students, other expert groups and journalists. The water treatment plant does not offer visits for students in upper comprehensive schools or secondary education.
The visits are not suitable for the physically handicapped. The maximum size of a group is 25 persons.
Visit prices
The visits are free of charge for schools, water management students and, for example, Helsinki-based associations.
The price for company visits is EUR 350 + VAT 24%.
How to schedule a visit
You can book a visit by using the forms accessible via the links on the left. We will contact you when you have completed and submitted the form.
We would like to inform you that our schedule and human resources are quite limited, so therefore we cannot guarantee all requests. We will respond to your request within four working days. Unfortunately we cannot answer the phone calls (requests). Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Please note:
- You must book your visit well in advance (at least two weeks beforehand).
- Visits are normally organised during business hours (8 am to 4 pm).
- The duration of a visit is roughly 1.5 hours.
- If you would like to have coffee served during the visit, the additional expenses will be charged to your group. Unfortunately, coffee service cannot be arranged at the Vanhakaupunki water treatment plant.

Baltic Sea Ambassadors are young people trained by the Finnish Nature League who have an interest in the state of the Baltic Sea. The purpose of the ambassador lessons organised at schools is to help young people to discover their chances of influencing the state of the sea.
