HSY's waste management regularly compiles statistics in regard to its operations. The statistics show, for example, how much waste has been received at the landfill and how many customer visits have been counted at the Sortti stations.
Waste Amounts at Ämmässuo in 2011
The waste treatment centre received altogether 633,400 tons of waste and soil resources. 249,600 tons of unsorted waste was received.
The waste treatment centre received ca. 131,200 tons of slightly contaminated soil and other type of resources, for landscaping its old landfill area. 52,600 tons of biowaste was received.
Transportations in 2011
About 229,000 tons of wastes were transported from HSY’s customer properties.
Unsorted Waste per Inhabitant in 2011
In 2011, the inhabitants of the metropolitan area generated on average 160-170 kg per person of unsorted waste.

Ca. 336,100 customer visits were recorded at the Sortti stations.
