HSY's waste management organises the waste management for residential buildings and the properties of the public administration throughout the metropolitan area. It is responsible for the collection of recyclable materials and hazardous wastes, as well as providing the waste management regulations guiding the sorting of wastes.

Collection vehicles tour in April and May

The HSY collection vehicles will tour in Espoo, Kauniainen, Helsinki, Vantaa and Kirkkonummi in April and May. The collection vehicles accept household-generated hazardous waste, electric appliances and metal scrap free of charge. Check the time schedules and stops of the vehicles on the HSY website (in Finnish).

Collection of batteries at HSY’s recycling points ended at the turn of the year

The collection of batteries at the HSY recycling points ended on 31 December 2011. HSY continues to collect batteries and small accumulators free of charge in hazardous waste containers and collection vehicles as well as at Sortti stations and Munkinmäki waste station in Kirkkonummi.
